Lucknow — The world has seen bizarre training regimens, but nothing will prepare you for what the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have in store. The team has reportedly eschewed traditional cricket practice for a routine that involves juggling samosas, practicing yoga in mid-air, and reading Shakespeare out loud.
Samosas in Mid-Air: A Strategy Ensuring Victory?
The training regimen, designed by the team’s fresh out of culinary school coach, Mr. Sambhar Singh, is meant to enhance players’ focus and hand-eye coordination. Team members are reportedly challenged to successfully juggle samosas—steaming hot, no less—without the filling tumbling out. Singh believes that if they can handle hot samosas, high flying cricket balls will be a cinch. “Why they still can’t catch the silly thing in a match is beyond me, though,” a perturbed Singh confessed.
Shakespeare, Yoga and Other Unorthodox Conditioning Tactics
And it doesn’t just stop at the samosas. Training sessions now also include reciting Shakespearean sonnets while performing advanced yoga postures, with the belief that it will improve team’s balance and communication skills on the field. The results, according to eyewitnesses, can be compared to a herd of buffalos attempting ballet. Government departments have been flooded with noise complaints and requests for “merciful cancellation of this outrageous charade.”
“Worse than a Traffic Jam,” Laments Local Bystander
Local resident, Ms. Sudha Khanna, 67, known for her undying ardor for cricket, shared her concerns. “They were better off training with their old coach, at least the samosas were left for us spectators. Now, they end up either on the ground or the players’ faces. Watching them is worse than being stuck in a Lucknow traffic jam.”
“At least the pigeons seem satisfied,” she added sourly, referring to the local birds that have begun flocking to the stadium, reportedly gaining a kilogram each from feasting on the fallen samosa wreckage.
